Bebang HaloHalo is an establishment in Manila that sells an elevated version of the traditional frozen Filipino dessert Halo-Halo with a business model mostly based on online ordering and delivery to customers.
The company has been organizing weekly giveaways on Instagram Stories as part of its brand-building strategy with great success: 8 weekly giveaways so far with more than 2,700 total participants and still going strong. Bebang HaloHalo built the whole campaign in-house to increase brand awareness and convert their clients into brand ambassadors, and in the process, the company has experienced a significant increase in sales.

De la acción se encargó Promosfera, agencia de marketing especializada en concursos, sorteos y asignaciones directas de premios a nivel internacional. Creen en el trabajo de equipo y en la necesidad de enfrentar cada reto con profesionalidad.
Bebang HaloHalo opened its shop in July 2021 and currently employs a staff of 42. It has a brick-and-mortar shop but its business model is mostly based on online ordering through Facebook. The success of their model is such that the company is working on an expansion strategy that plans to open more than 50 locations around the country in the next 25 months. As of March 2023, the brand has over 150k followers on Facebook and more than 15k on Instagram.

Bebang HaloHalo campaign on Instagram Stories
The company uses an automated chatbot powered by Manychat to take customers’ orders which are then delivered to the customers at the address and time frame requested. The ordering process takes place entirely on Facebook Messenger. User-friendly and straightforward, it even provides a video tutorial accessible through the Messenger app.

When asked about how the organizers came up with the idea for the campaign, Sam Karazi, the company’s co-founder replied: “We noticed some of our customers are posting pictures of the product on their IG stories, so we thought why not encourage more customers to do that for brand exposure and social proof.”
The campaign has been shared on their social media 100% organically. To communicate the promotion and inform customers about it, Sam added: “We are only promoting this to customers who buy from us, with the help of Manychat we are sending customers a message informing them about the contest a few minutes before they receive their delivery orders.”
The solution: Instagram Story Mention Giveaway
Bebang HaloHalo opted for the Story Mention modality of the Instagram Story Giveaway. Once the customers finish placing their order, they receive a message informing them of the promotion and asking if they want to join the giveaway, also stating that their Instagram profile must be set as public to participate. Users then have to post a story on their Instagram account with a picture of their HaloHalo and mention the brand in it for the chance of winning a voucher for P1,000 (20 USD).
The organizers launched the first giveaway in February 2023, and as of April 2023, it has been running weekly giveaways non-stop and has achieved very good participation levels. The first two weekly giveaways received just over 100 participants with participation increasing steadily every week to the point that the last completed weekly giveaway had more than 700 participants. When asked how long the company intends to keep the campaign going, Sam Karazi replied: “We are running this weekly until we feel people have lost interest, starting every Monday and winners are selected on the next Monday morning.”
The Instagram Story Giveaway tool allows the organizers to easily and reliably collect participating stories automatically for the seven days that each giveaway lasts. At the end of each giveaway, five winners are chosen using Easypromos' random winner-picking tool and the winners’ page is shared on Bebang’s Halo Halo Instagram feed. Bebang has also used the "Show Mode" feature which allows organizers announce the winners using a fully customizable video featuring a countdown, winners' names, and brand imagery. Finally, the brand also collects valuable user-generated content to share on its own Instagram Stories.

Results of the Instagram Stories Giveaway campaign
- Since the beginning of the campaign, the establishment has seen an increase of 25% in sales.
- So far the giveaways have racked up more than 2,700 participations with the associated brand exposure due to the mention of the brand on every story posted.
- The average number of participants per giveaway has been 387, with the lowest being 104 participants at the beginning of the promotion and the highest number 727 participants for the latest completed giveaway at the time of publishing this article.
